In the distant future, mighty robots called 'Mavericks' help society
in various manners. They serve as protectors, laborors and helpers.
But something has gone horribly wrong, and they're creator, Dr.
Doppler seems to be at the route of the problems. Only Mega Man X and
his side kick Zero can stop the beserk robots now, and humanity lies
in the balance.
Mega Man X3 is rated 'K-A' and contains mild animated violence. (For
objects exploding).
It's a 1-player side scrolling action game.
Graphics [8/10]:
Supposably this game contains a revolutionary C-4 chip which enables
'exellent graphics'. And even though the graphics are clean-cut and
hardly ever slows down, there was nothing awesome other than a few
weapons Mega Man would recieve towards the end of the game. The
graphic move along great and the colors are rather vivid, so I really
can't complain.
Music and Sound [6/10]:
The music in Mega Man X3 varies from excellent, to down-right
annoying. I wish it was either one or the other, but it continuosly
switches from good to bad.
The sounds are rather typical, but sound pretty good compared to some
of the dull and boring music. The sound effects consist of jumping
noises, blaster fire and other various techno-gadgets.
Game Play [8/10]:
It's a pretty cut and dry Mega Man game. You have to beat the bosses
in a certain order and pick up power ups along the way. It's really
fun, but there wasn't much new or original material in this game.
Challenge and Replay [7/10]:
The game can be extrememly dificult if you play it out of order by
going to different bosses. But it really only gets hard at the very
end, which was kinda disappointing because I zoomed through the game.
There's a lot of secret, hidden power-ups in the game, which I'll
always want to come back to. But It's not the type of game you want to
plug back in right after you've finished.
Conclussion/Overall [7.2/10]:
Mega Man X3 has pretty good graphics and varying quality music. The
sound effects are above average for a side scroller. Game Play wise,
Mega Man fans like myself will love it. But new comers to the series
might not appreciate the Mega Man setup of levels. I suggest this game
to any Mega Man fan or to any collector of rare or hard to find SNES
games.
